Alright, after watching Gundam 00, i do have much compliments: Nice graphics and animation, a much better plot than SEED (perhaps one of the best) and no clip shows. But complaints are inevitable, loads of them and it really pissed me off. Why?

1. GN Drives, in the first place, doesn’t make any sense. I’ve been doing research and searching for relavant information on at least the theory behind it. Official websites only mention GN Drives are a type of solar furnace. Ok, not enough. Explanations? None given. At least i found some details on it at last at Gundam wikipedia, the only website providing info. Here it is:

GN Drive(s) (GNドライヴ, GN Doraivu?), also referred to as solar reactor and/or solar furnace (太陽炉, Taiyou-Ro?), is a semi-perpetual generator scalable for installation on a mobile suit. It harnesses the photon and positron discharge of the non-evaporative decay of baryonic matter as an energy source. Though its output is within any given period of time finite, the absence of a limit to its functional life translates to an effectively inexhaustible supply of energy. Owing to the unique heatlessness of its activity and the special properties of its byproduct, GN particles. The device operation is virtually invisible to such methods of detection as IRST or conventional radar. GN particles are not used in the process of energy production.

GN particles (GN粒子, GN Ryoushi) are a type of exotic neutrino released as a byproduct of the GN Drive, capable of disrupting conventional radar and wireless communications with the electromagnetic radiation it expels in the process of decay.

Humans exposed to high quantities and/or concentrations of GN particles are known to have developed supernatural capabilities. While ultra high concentrations can hurt and/or kill a human being (Chall Acustica, Ruido Resonance, Marlene Vlady), concentrated particles to a certain extent can stimulate the evolution of quantum brainwaves (Setsuna F. Seiei)

Ok. What nonsense is this? Harnessing the photon and positron discharge of the non-evaporative decay of baryonic matter as an energy source. You call that a solar furnace? That’s nonsense. It mentioned decay/harness of baryonic matter to produce by-products (photon, the light particle, and positron) to produce energy. That’s an atomic nuclear fission, fission of a particle to produce lighter by-products and mass defect is converted into energy (At least the release of GN particles, a type of neutrino which is involved in energy-mass conversion in terms of momentum that produce thrust makes sense, but, what do they mean “exotic”? There’s only 2 types of neutrino: neutrino and anti-neutrino.). That’s a nuclear reaction.

A nuclear reactor that utilizes fundamental particles (e.g. proton, neutron, baryon, tauon, neutrino, positron, electron etc.). Just because photon is released they call it a solar furnace. Solar generators use photons to produce energy, not release photons while producing energy. And, such particles make human develop supernatural capabilities? Ridiculous. This is a science fiction anime, not code geass or any supernatural anime. A supposedly potentially harmful particle with radiation causes evolution (Any atomic-involved reaction releases continous electromagnetic radiation spectrum up to a harmful level, not only photons, a radiation under the visible spectrum from 450-700 nm in wavelength). Tell me if i get X-rayed in appropriate amounts i will evolve. And, there’s no such thing as heatless reactions. To achieve that you will need a 100% efficient chemical reaction, and to achieve this the so-called reaction stabilizer named “TD Blanket” is built in a GN Drive. How does TD Blanket works? Unknown, as stated in the website.

2. Trans-Am is what I deem as a cheat mode. It’s obvious.

-Setsuna have no way of matching Ali Saachez and Graham Aker everytime he fights them, he won most of his battles against them with Trans-Am. In GNX Susanoo’s case, Susanoo is an underperforming MS built fromm a Flag, so there’s no way it can match a 4th generation Gundam.

-He was no match to Alejandro’s Alvarron and cheated death by activating Trans-AM right before he is hit by a particle cannon.

-In ep 9, he was no match to the Garazzo which even broke his sword. In the subsequent battle in Lagrange 3, using 00 Raiser Trans-Am alone changed the tide of the battle, and he thrashed Gadessa and Garazzo.

-Now let’s go for another example. Tiera Erde has no problem beating Bring Stability with a combination of Trans-AM and Seraphim, but after Garazzo and Gadessa gets Trans-AM upgrade in ep 23, Seravee gets thrashed easily.

All the points above shows that all the pilots in Gundam 00 only depend on their suit’s power and do not have enough skills.

3. There’s no originality in Gundam 00. Ok, people complained SEED was a fake copy. Same goes to Gundam 00. Proof?

-The effects of GN Drive on radar and everything is a copy of UC’s Minovsky particles. Need more details?

-The fall/destruction of the African Orbital Elevator is a resemblance of the attempt of dropping a space colony in Char’s Counterattack and the drop of Junius Seven in SEED Destiny.

-A-LAWS concept of a military style government is a copy of UC’s Titans

-The final duel between Exia and GN Flag, Especially Exia’s left arm chopped off at the shoulder and head stabbed is copied from the Aegis and Strike duel. Aegis got ripped at the left shoulder and pierced in the head as well. The final mutual stabbing of each other resembles the anime BLOOD+’s final, which also shows the mutual stabbing of the protagonist and the antagonist.

Compare

-Take a look at GNMA Regnant MS mode and the Digimon Kerpymon (there’s another type, evil type, looks more similar in colours) and you would notice they are ridiculously similar:

-The particle cannon on the Innovator’s mother ship “Celestial Being” is a resemblance to SEED (Destiny)’s GENESIS

-The scene where Partrick Colosaur dies while saying something meaningful before that (”I love you Kati”) is a copy from SEED Destiny when Mwu “dies” (”I can make the impossible possible”)

-Trans-Am is nothing but a pathetic copy of DOM’s Jet Stream/Gundam F91’s top performance combined with the mirage effect of MIrage Colloid powered wings (As seen in Destiny Gundam); Turn A Gundam

-Compare GN Archer with Astray Civillian Custom with a GM head and Gundam MKII (Super Gundam)’s backpack

-Ok, everyone knows this. In UC, the first Gundam is RX-78 as in the series, in AD, the first Gundam is also RX-78 “O Gundam”.

-Arche Gundam’s leg beam sabers is copied from Aegis Gundam.

-Gadessa’s mega cannon is copied from a mecha in Super Robot Wars:

F.I.Y, the cannon shown above also have blades extends outwards with the caannon at the center.

-Louise’s role in season 2 is the similar to Four Murasame and Psycho Gundam in UC, & Stellar Loussier in SEED Destiny

-The Ptolemaios and “Celestial Being’s” particle cannon’s invisible cover is copied from SEED’s MIrage Colloid

-GNMA Regnant’s bending beam is a copy from SEED’s Fotbidden Gundam, SEED Destiny’s Requiem and SEED Deslta Astray’s Rosso Aegis Gundam. But Regnant’s cannon never made any sense as it bend at sharp angles instead of curves (which can be achieved like in Forbidden by installing multiple high density prism blocks at the nozzle of a cannon and adjusted to refract the laser). Seems like light does not travel in a straight line in Gundam 00.

-The idea behind the burst mode that shows an extreme burst of energy is derived from Digimon Savers, and under the same condition: highly grim situations and high determination:

-The question here, is E-carbon enough for a mobile suit to maintain stability while in ultrahigh speed mode (Trans-AM). Even in space, not to mention earth, the mobile suit would have been torn apart due to high pressure and no aerodynamics as in a real life military jet. Maybe the GN particles surrounding the suit helps in this aspect, but it isn;t mentioned in list of GN particles’s ability and uses.

(This fact answers the question everyone deemed as a plothole in SEED Destiny. Kira survived the explosion of Freedom Gundam because his Gundam actually did not explode at all. Switching off nuclear reactor before it reaches critical state shuts the PS Armour as well, as hence the Gundam is now as fragile as a normal car on the road. The explosion on Archangel’s Engine 1’s impact after firing from Minerva results in a large momentum or pressure explosion that tear the PS down Freedom apart at the joints: arms, legs, wings etc. and these torn off limbs explode- that’s the explosion we see after Freedom is stabbed. The nuclear reactor is still intact-of course, a safety design to all nuclear reactors which it is not fragile, leaving the cockpit intact with the engine at the rear )

Ok. That’s all i want to complain. This is my answer to those who admire Gundam 00’s originality and uniqueness while criticizing Gundam SEED is a fake copy of Universal Century. I had a few people online who are really “radical” and hurled extreme criticisms on others who liked Gundam Seed (they hated SEED and liked Gundam 00). It is ok to criticize, but some went overboard by even calling SEED fans losers. There are more copies actually, but if i add them i will need to embed the proof screenshots as well. Despite the copies, i still like this series, the only thing that bothered me was the theory behind GN Drives. I did some research on Minovsky particles and the concept of SEED (Destiny)’s related technologies and they made sense, at least theoretically. GN Drive does not make sense even theoretically to me. No offense to Gundam 00 fans, just an opinion and a reply for radical anti-Gundam SEED fans.
